Wow - I thought I was the only person they had done this to! Can you help me? I purchased a Z4 from (SAME MARIN DEALERSHIP) this summer and wow - they have really put me through the ringer! Everything from flat-out lying to me about the car, to telling me they wold fix something but then "blowing me off", to telling me that they fixed something then finding out later that they really did not. What can I do? Any advice you could share with me would be greatly appreciated! Thank you and have a good day! kind regards, Crickett

Hi, I ran across you BMWComplaints.org site on the web and was interested in the article about the Marin Dealership. We recently bought a used "Certified" 330ci convertible and just found out that the car had previously been in an accident and dealer had not disclosed. I was wondering how your case went and if you had any advice in dealing with the dealer? Your links seem to be down. Thank you!!!!! Best, Jeff

AVOID (SAME MARIN DEALERSHIP) SERVICE!!

The service manager there is a blatant liar! Most recently my car went in for a door seal replacement because the door on my ci wasnt closing properly. Service rep and mech agree that door seals need replacement and/or door hinge requires adjustment. So I make the appt. I Bring my car in and leave it for the day. At the end of the day, I pick it up and to my amazement, Tracy, the service manager had tossed my car out and said that the problem was my fault due to an aftermarket stereo installation. Door panels out of line etc. NONSENSE! In the meanwhile his crew performed some unauthorized brake service which was never explained to me. Intersting: This service manager Tracy has tried to blame everything wrong on my car on a car stereo installation. This includes faulty engine parts like a cracked oil filter housing (umm how is that affected by a car stereo again??) and faulty steptronic operation and other unfortunate issues dating to far before any stereo work was done. But in this case his own staff agreed with me behind his back that the doors were a warrantee item and they didnt understand his action. Anyway, both door seals were replaced-under warrantee at Weatherford in Berkeley a few weeks later. Tracy at Sonnen is a bizarre, troubled fellow. What is his problem anyway? BMWNA...Anybody out there??

I'm not really sure if this is the right place to go to file a complaint about a BMW dealership's bad service. Last year I purchased a 2004 745Li from a BMW dealership in Visalia CA. At first I was satisfied with my service, but then when I had to take my car in to get the CD magazine fixed I started to get the run around. I took it in and they told me that it had something to do with the navigational system. They took the CD out and didn't put it back or give me a new one. I tried calling them, leaving messages, and one manager told me that he would take care of it and never followed through with any of his promises. Here we are in April of 2006 and that happened last year and I am finally getting someone to get me the CD and some decent service. I just wanted someone to know that I have been getting nothing but the run around from these people ever since last year, including a series of unreturned phone calls. Anyway, I just think someone should know and do something about this. Thank you, Lillis Isaac

I bought a brand new M3 and it has paint issues. I strongly believe that it has been in some sort of accident and the dealership did not disclose. Is their anyway you can give me any advice? I got a attorney and contacting the dealership to replace my vehicle. If they don’t do this I plan to go after them full force. Any advice? Thanks in advance.

I saw your website and think you are doing everyone a great service. I just finished writing this letter to BMW corporate to complain Som

Dear BMW, I would like to express my extreme disappointment in the way I have been treated by BMW dealerships and representatives. In 2003 I purchased a BMW Z4 2.5. This car was brand new and had the BMW name. I assumed that this automobile that had a reputation for quality and workmanship would be a reliable piece of transportation. Unfortunately, I have found that this car is a complete piece of junk. Nearly nine months after its purchased I had to replace the engine. While this was supposed to be covered under the warranty, the BMW dealership in Rockville accused me of downshifting prematurely. They stated that this is what caused the engine to die. For two months I was paying for a car that was in a BMW dealership in addition to rental cars. The accusations made by the dealer were ridiculous, given the fact that I was driving on the freeway and already in fifth gear when the car stopped running. If anything my life could have been endangered as the car stopped moving on the freeway. I was insulted and deeply hurt by the way I was treated in this situation. I immediately contacted consumer affairs to have their investigator check this automobile. I also had to wait several weeks for BMWs district mechanic to check my car as well. The consumer affairs mechanic suspected a problem with the fuel pump, which by the way, was recalled two months latter to add a resistor of some sort. The issue was finally resolved by the dealership who replaced the engine months later after I first had it towed in. Again I expected good service and BMW to back their workmanship. This was only done so after lawyers and consumer affairs investigators. Recently, I was driving my vehicle in July and my car stopped and would not run. The lights and all other functions were on but the engine was not running. I had this vehicle towed to the BMW dealership and was called by Mike L. I was told the car needed a new battery terminal and that the only cause of this was a possible accident since the ABS light was on. My car was hit by another vehicle but the minor damages were repaired over a year before this incident. The damage was very little and no ABS light was on until Mr. L at the BMW dealership looked at the car. For Mr. L to state that the car was running on the alternator alone for over a year is ridiculous. I had this car taken to an independent mechanic who agreed with me in a statement and suggested I take my car back to a BMW dealership for warranty repair. It was at this time I was told by the independent mechanic that the fog light was busted. I thought that this might have happened when it was being towed since a flat bed truck did not tow it. I called roadside assistance to inform them of this issue. After weeks of messages, the roadside assitance investigator told me, that the tow could not have caused this damaged. Once this car was taken to the independent mechanic it was then running again but with the ABS light on. The car was then towed to tischer to get the ABS light turned off but tischer BMW stated that I needed a new battery terminal along with some other items. Their cost of repairs totaled to $1500.00 while the dealerships costs were at $900.00. This led me to be even more suspicious and I requested my auto insurance to have their claims examiner to investigate this issue. The investigator found no significant signs of impact that could have caused this ABS sensor to turn on and suggested I take further action against the dealership. The tischer BMW representative told me that only an accident turns this sensor on and that it's designed to cut power to the vehicle in accidents. A few questions that I constantly ask myself are: If the terminal needs to be replaced because the sensor was set off then why is the car still running? Why is it that the ABS light never came on, until the BMW dealership examined the car? Why is my fog light broken when it wasn't broken before the tow? How is it a car can run on the alternator for over a year like Mr. Lang stated? If it was the minor accident from over a year ago then why is it nothing happened for an entire year!!?? These are legitimate questions one asks but since BMW provides such horrible service I cant get any answers!!! My consumer affairs investigator has been looking into this issue and has informed me of the dealerships BMW's reluctance to do the ethical thing and repair my car. My questions remain unanswered and BMW remains allusive to my demands for ethical treatment. My next step is to have this issue addressed in court, which I am currently preparing. I have every intent of sending this issue to a judge to decide. It seems that I spend more time getting BMW to fix issues with my car than I do driving it. I would appreciate answers and a formal investigation into this issue immediately.

I have had issues with Tracy and (SAME MARIN DEALERSHIP) also. I purchased a 530i from (SAME DEALERSHIP) and in less than a week the front spoiler became separated from the front bumper and the fog light fell out. I took the vehicle to (SAME DEALERSHIP) for repair and they said they fixed the vehicle. Within a week the spoiler came off again. The vehicle was again taken to (SAME DEALERSHIP). When picking up the vehicle, Tracy said that we hit a curb and that is why the spoiler came off. I told him that we did not hit a curb. After a week of having the car back, the spoiler came off again. I took the car to Prestige in Santa Rosa and the service manager said that the car did not hit a curb, as there was no scratches on the bottom. He said that the car was in an accident and showed me where the hood was not aligned. He then pulled a bracket that had fallen lose which used to hold the spoiler and we observed glue on it. The service manager said that (SAME DEALERSHIP) must have tried to glue the spoiler back to the braces. The glue had silver paint on it that was sprayed after their attempt to glue the spoiler to the bumper. I called several body shops and found out that Anthony's in San Rafael did $4000 in repairs on the car. This damage was not disclosed to us at the time of purchase. Still, Tracy says that we hit a curb. Turns out that a sign fell on the car while in the lot, according the sales manager. I called BMWNA several times and they said they could do nothing, as it was a dealership issue. I took a small claims case against Sonnen and BMWNA. Lets see what the judge has to say about the matter. Also the DMV wanted to know why Sonnen did not report damage that was over $750. Case is 6-21-04 at the Marin County Municipal Court. So, I purchased a new car so I would not need to deal with car problems. 50 hours at least of wasted time in one year, BMW has wasted more of my time than any used car I have owned. In my opinion, BMW is not maintenance free and there is no support from BMWNA. I strongly urge anyone thinking of buying a BMW to look at other manufactures. Also, look up Gore Vs BMWNA.
